Bloggers!

I've never written a blog before, and this year I had to make two. Write in english is not as horrible as I thought it would be, never thought it'd be boring but difficult, yes. The English blog make me do an effort not like my other blog where I just have to upload images of the assignments (with property I can say that THAT is really boring).
I took this class because I was losing the training, I used to practice a lot, seven pedagogic hours for week (those days were really good because that much practice made you trust in what you have learn) but after becoming a university student everything change and my english was suffering some of the consequences. The best of keep writing is that you must think in english and after the oral practice I consider is the best way no to forget, not to waste the knowledge you’ve acquire. I would love to have had more time to do this kind of things but Architecture is a hard career that steals a huge amount of time and of course I'm not that mature yet to do it alone. Think we all still need the push and the obligation to develop some of our skills and I’m glad that this CFG give us the instance.
I can say that the blog idea was a very fun activity; maybe because we share the experience with a lot of friends and with really nice people, to comment was always the best part of the blogging. However I have to admit that I didn’t take the opportunity quite well, I missed some classes because of other subjects and not always wrote.
It was a fantastic experience to write about ourselves, about what we do and think, I certainly repeat it.

Paris or London

I took this picture in 2009 holiday in Paris, was my first day there and although it was rainning profusely I decided to take a walk near the hotel but I couldn't wait to see the city and I walked a lot more. I remember was a very windy and cold day and after been walking for one hour or two the weather changed completely. The picture shows that, the sun appearing among the clouds. I was in the middle of "Place de la Concorde" and I like the way the chairs where leave there, you can almost imagine a scene with a lot of people talking, it was a good contrast with the ponds and the lonlyness of that part of the park ( I don't not how to call it because is not an square or a park).
I dindn't notice that I got that perfect light until a came back to Chile and my father congratulated me because of it. He has always wanted to teach about photograph, was his youth hobby, but I'm not very good at it. I amazed of my accidental achievement and since that day I love this picture even more. However, is not just because I think is very beautiful or because I'm not a good photographer is because it remember me the best travel of my whole life.

The sencond is not well taken but I love the colours in it, I also took it in 2009 in a quick trip to London and I really fell in love of that sky maybe is beacuse of the same of the other picture, it is the contrast but in this case between the colours of the sky and the building, Big Ben. I hope you enjoy them.

I LOVE MY MOBILE PHONE

My favourite piece of technology? that's really easy question, of course it is my laptop. Since the second year of University it is my life, simply because it contains all the information that I use every day, works, music, books, even my thoughts. But... although it is THE main tool in matters of the career for me, think is not something that I couldn't live without. For instance, to draw plans we use a software, AutoCad, but we know perfectly how to do it with a pen, it's more difficult, you have to do it carefully but you can do it. Or, we have to be constantly looking information about a million of different things on the net but that you also can do it without the laptop, there is something called library that I thing we should visit more often.
However there's something that I'm sure I can't live without, my mobile phone. It´s like an extension of my brain and at the same time my connection to the world. Some days ago I lost the plug and my phone was dead for two or three days, was simpli horrible, I didn't know what time was, I couldn't call my friends because obviouslly I have never memorize their numbers and although it sounds terrible I not even knew the date and couldn´t wake up at time not to miss my clases.
A worrying statement, but the truth, I can´t live without my mobile phone.

Jean Nouvel

Jean Nouvel, architect and designer. He was born August 12, 1945 in France and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He has won a lot of prizes and is one of the commonly named STAR ARCHITECTS.
Think he is very known among architecture students, personaly was one of the first names that I remeber heard my first year in the university. I knew him through one of his famous projects, Arab World Institute (he won a design competition whit it in 1981, fact that gave him international fame). The bulding is simply fantastic, like in all his works the protagonic character is the light, always rhe light. If you analyse criticaly his work the most of the time the ideas are very simple and functional when you talk abut the phisic space but as I said before the way he manage the light gives to the project his magnificence creating his own stylistic language.

One year ago I knew three of his buildings, Arab World Institute (top), Cartier Foundation and Agbar Tower, and how you can see in the images interior space becames richer with the management of the light. In Arab World Institute his seeking of  this management made him desing the whole technology to create one of the facade, transforming his basic idea of diffuse light in a diphragm that lets change the sapeces to your will.
Or in his project to Cartier Foundation (bottom) made a see-through building, is beautiful in the nights. Think is clear why a love his work.

Atonement

Greetings. Today's assingment is write about my favourite movie.Really hard to choose, but I'm going to pick one of my favourite corny films, "Atonement" or "Expiación, deseo y pecado" in spanish, directed by Joe Wright. This film tells a love story between two life friends, a story, as might be expected, full of tragedy and misundestandings set in the Second World War.
Although the story is about the couple in the image the story teller is the younger sister of the woman, the little Briony that really really mess up when she blame her sister's lover of a crime he didn't commit (won'nt tell you exactly what but i can tell that you are going to hate this little gossip). The awful is the fact that these gossip split them away and send him to the war. After a long time they meet again but still is going to end as an impossible love. T.T
What i like the most of the film is the unexpected end and how hardly is going to make you cry and think that the life is so so so unfair (if you are corny like me and like love stories).
The first time i watched it was alone in a rainy day, not true, i don't remember really, but i strongly recommend it, i can't say is the best movie ever, but it is different still in a corny way (i've said corny so many times xD). Please watch it and tell me what you think.
Bye bye!

Funny Durex Commercial

Write about the best commercial spot i've watched... this is difficult because i don't remember one in specific, but i can say that the first to came into my mind with that question is Durex´s commercials, they use the best resource to sell, laugh.
Think that sell condoms is not very easy because speaking of sexuality is not easy, a lot of people still talk about this topic like a tabú, so if you play down its importance, deal it with naturally as if it were something funny the product transform itself in just that, a product and not a complicated stuff.
The first time i watched was in a TV show, the kind of one that show internet´s funny videos or even commercials spot that have won some prize.
I like the commercials spot that laugh about almost everything (it is always a limit), not taking serious complicated situations and real life anecdotes are the best way to reach the audience. You gave them a good moment and sell wherever you  like to sell.
I will let here some links for you to enjoy, the flying condom is hilarious or the one whit the guy and the door car but the BEST ONE is the uploaded at the top, just watched and you will see my point.

See you soon

Earthquake at the headquarters

With a few drinks in the body I said “the World is moving”, all my friends started to laugh and assure me that was enough party for me already. Think I slept for a minute or two next to one of my friends when suddenly I became a sort of fortune-teller, the world was really moving.
Without being completely awake I heard someone saying that all the movement was because of an earthquake. The next thing I remembered is a hand graving my right arm and taking me out of the house. I hugged Diego, the one that pull me out, in the middle of the yard until the earthquake stopped.
The mental pictures of that night that I got is a little tsunami in my swimming pool, my friends all nervous trying to call to their houses, my mother looking for the camping gas-lamps and my dog very frightened.
Being with all my beloved friends the night of February 27 is something I’m going to be grateful forever and think is going to be a good story to tell to the grandkids, isn’t it Jorge, Adolfo?
Love you guys and I hope you still be fans of Nadia’s House, our party's headquarters.

I don't have photos of that meeting but in this picture the five to the right were in my house the erthquake's night. Javiera, Adolfo, me, Nicolás and Jorge (right to left). Carolina, Fabián y Diego are missing.
(The picture was taken this summer at Nicolás's birthday party.)
